Upswing Me

About Us

We are three women in our 20s who hail from the South, Southwest, and Midwest. All “big-dreamers” we left our small towns in Texas, Arizona, and Indiana to head west for college to USC (Fight On Trojans). We bonded over the curly and kinky hair struggle then, and three year later found ourselves reconnected and still talking about the kinky and curly hair struggle. By then, we had become working professionals – fighting for equality in our nation’s education system, stopping brands from making bad decisions in PR, and convincing people to get healthy and buy yoga mats. One of us had done her best to develop UpswingMe through support from other major female tech players in New York, but it didn’t take long to see that the problem of quality knowledge of kinks, curls, and waves was more than one person could handle.

In our spare time, we can be found trying to catch up with episodes of Breaking Bad, waiting for the return of Scandal on Feb 24th, learning the proper names of Louis Vuitton bags (here), and creating the biggest database of quality hairstylists that serve kinks, curls, and waves – GLOBALLY (here). We also want to make a positive impact on the world, especially girls and women, one kinky, curly strand of hair at a time.
This whole startup thing takes a long of guts. There have been many trials and errors and lessons learned, but we appreciate you reading and spreading our vision. We’ve grabbed our seats at the table and now it’s time to get all ladies with kinky, curls, and waves on the UpswingMe.
